When Margaret Atwood drew this cartoon — inspired by a great Barbara Gowdy quip — a few years ago, I didn’t realize she had a background as a cartoonist. But Clive Thompson links to a 1978 TV  interview with Atwood about her Kanadian  Kulture Komic. “You’re supposed to do one thing,” she says. “If you do more than that,  people get confused.”
(This seems like a good time to link to Rebecca Solnit’s incredible “Men Who Explain Things,” just in case there’s anyone left on the Internet who hasn’t read it.)
